2014/2015 Mother-Daughter Workshop Schedule
Who Should Attend: Mothers with daughters in 4th or 5th grade.
Dates: 1st Saturdays of the month (except April) - November 1, December 6, January 3, February 7, March 7, April 18
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (9:00 - 9:30 a.m. refreshments, workshop begins at 9:30. Each Mother-Daughter pair provides refreshments for 1 session.)
Location: Fire Station Community Room, 9th & Pace (with the exception of the first meeting, which will be at the First Lutheran Church on 3rd Ave.)
Content & Style: Each session includes many different types of activities to engage our full selves, and may include dialogue and small group topic study, individual reflection, journal writing, games, arts & crafts, rituals and rites exploration, and more. We always include specific mother/daughter sharing time to help you deepen your understanding of one another.
Below are some of the basic areas we will cover. Depending on the composition of the group (e.g. if you've attended one of our workshops previously), exact subject matter and activities may vary.
Session 1 - What's My Temperament? Finding out our basic "style," and how it affects communication and behavior with others.
Session 2 - Speaking from the Heart: Emotions, secrets and lies, and why they are all necessary | My World, Your World, Our World.
Session 3 - She Never Listens to Me/Answer Me! Barriers to listening and the power struggle.
Session 4 - Speaking to be Understood. Taking responsibility for effective communication | Beauty - What Is It?
Session 5 - Communicating With and Through Emotion; Putting it all Together | Body Image and Fashion throughout history.
Session 6 - Goals, Potential and Support. Our best selves, our best friends, and the future.
Cost: $205/per pair for the series. Non-refundable.
